Meet the core of Dogma...

Dogma continues to blossom because of our dedicated voluneteers.  Without them, SO much would not be possible!  Thank you to everyone who has helped us get where we are, the sky is the NOT the limit for Dogma Pet Rescue!

Ann-Marie Pearson

Ann-Marie Pearson comes by rescue honestly. Having picked up every stray dog with her family as a child, dog rescue was certainly in her future. Not long after Ann-Marie moved back to Florida from college she found the first of her beloved Pit Bulls, Manny. This event led her to get involved with an official rescue group and be a Pit Bull advocate. Ann-Marie and her husband, Christian, foster every type, size, color and breed of dog, from litters of puppies to 80-lb adult dogs. Their personal pack consists of four rescue pitties – Manny Dean, Zoe, Paddy Cake, Greta, and a little special needs Corgi mix, Javier.

Amy Howland

Amy Howland earned her degree in Biology and went to work in the hospital of the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. After seven years of getting bitten and pooped on by wild birds, Amy transitioned into mortgage banking eventually landing at a law firm. Caring for animals is now a passion, not a profession. Amy and her husband, Chris, have fostered hundreds of dogs over the last five years. Since Amy is no longer being bitten by the animals in her care, she is content to just deal with the poop. Amy has either four or five personal dogs of her own, depending on whether you ask her or Chris.

Corey and Randy Rosado

Corey and Randy Rosado added their first dog, a cocker spaniel, Roxy, to the family back in 2007, after many months of Corey’s constant nagging. She had always wanted a dog, but unlike Randy, was never allowed to have one as a child. A few months later, they adopted and fell in love with Janie, a Pit Bull with a very sad, abusive past. The Rosado’s saw how much joy Janie brought to everyone’s lives and were grateful to have had the opportunity to rescue her. They realized that there are thousands of dogs out there, just like Janie, who need help finding the perfect family to call their own. They tossed around the idea of fostering, but were thrown into it when a family friend could no longer care for their dog. Randy and Corey were called into action and their fostering began. They linked up with the Dogma girls, who helped them through their first foster. Since then, they’ve continued to welcome many other four legged furbabies into their home. Randy’s dedication to helping dogs also brought him to Hillsborough County Animal Services where he worked, or rather played, with the investigational dogs. The Rosado’s have an affinity for Pit Bulls and are strong advocates for the breed. They’ve vowed to always have a Pit in the family and make it a point to attend local events that raise awareness for the misrepresented breed. Randy and Corey are surrounded by love from their son, Anthony, and the furbabies~ Roxy, Echo and Audrey. They are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new baby girl, due in February 2012.

Allison Moore & Michelle Domanski

Animals, dogs in particular, have always been Allison's passion. Volunteering has also been a huge part of her life for many years. She happened on Dogma one raining day outside of Petsmart and a light bulb went off. Once she join the Dogma ranks everything came full circle, combing her two passions: animals and helping others. Allison has been fostering with Dogma for approximately two years and has taken on several "un"adoptables and found them amazing homes. With Dogma and her girlfriend Michelle's help, also a Dogma volunteer, she has become a huge Pit Bull enthusiast. Allison works full-time at a Juvenile Assessment Center and part time pet sitting. Her home is warmed by her girlfriend, Michelle, and their fur babies: Mack, Spencer and Duke(a Dogma dog!).

Sue Brown Becker

Sue is so grateful to the dogs for rescuing her and enabling her to find the true passion of her life. When Sue was a little girl, she was bitten by her Grandma's dog and developed a severe fear of dogs. It became so bad, her parents decided to adopt a dog to help her get past the fear. She still remembers "Blackie" (yes he was black) and the day he came into the house - Sue jumped on the couch screaming in fear. However, in time Blackie won Sue's heart and she developed a great love for dogs and dogs have been a part of her life ever since. In 2002, Sue found her very own local dog whisperer Steve Becker. Steve had been a standup comedian for a number of years. The mixture of humor and dog whispering was irresistible and Sue and Steve were married in 2002. They have a pack of dogs of their own and foster as well. While they foster any breed, they have a weakness for German Shepherds.

Emily Sikorski and Jaime Grullon

Emily and Jaime are recent college graduates of USF who have always had a passion for animals. They started volunteering August 2010 for Dogma because Emily needed volunteer hours for a class. She was given specific instructions from her boyfriend Jaime not to take home a dog! That day Dogma needed help fostering a small Chihuahua and Emily decided it would be ok since it would be ok since fostering would only temporary. After the initial shock of adding a foster, Jaime and Emily fell in love with fostering and could not imagine their life without it. Emily also manages Dogma’s Facebook page and their contributes to their fundraising events. Their personal animals include a Jack Russell named Bond and their foster that they adopted, a pit mix named Brittney (featured as January in Dogma's 2012 calendar), three cats named Malibu, Louie, and PK, and an Amazon Parrot named Gonzo. And although they have a very full townhouse… they still enjoy having a foster dog!
