Thor & Athena
Thor and Athena hit the jackpot. Their fortunes took a dramatic turn for the better, when they were adopted by Kiley and Devin. Thor (a Great Pyrenees) and Athena (a Shiba Inu) originally came into Dogma when their owner threatened to shoot them for digging up his yard. We so hoped that these two bonded dogs could be placed together. Fortunately, Devin and Kiley felt the very same way. Kiley and Devin had this update for these two lucky pups:
"Thor is the stalwart rock and Athena is the instigator. The two love play sessions.
Athena can be smart when she wants to be and has proven to be the love bug. She always wants attention and/or her belly rubbed.
Thor is highly intelligent. We have treat balls that dispense treats if they are rolled correctly on the floor. Thor not only has the game figured out, but he knows it does it better on the carpet than the tile floor, so if it goes onto the tile, he picks it up and moves it. He also knows it's harder to move it in corners, so if it gets too close to corners, he'll also pick it up and move it. Athena doesn't want to figure it out; she lets Thor do it and tries to steal the treats. We initially kenneled them at night for sleeping to help break them into the house and to get through their chewing phase, with the intent of letting them roam free eventually. However, they're attached to the kennels. Bedtime to them is going in the kennels and sleeping, and they often do it voluntarily when they know it's bedtime. So, we've kept the kennels up. Why break their routine if they feel comfortable and safe?
Anyway, we could probably continue on, but the point is, we cannot believe some guy wanted to shoot them for digging holes in his yard. They have never dug a hole in our yard. These puppies just didn't get the attention they deserved. Well they do now and they're so incredibly loving and caring and fun. Four months after getting Thor and Athena, we cannot imagine our lives without them, and we are looking forward to many, many years of happiness with them."
Dogma thanks Kiley and Devin so much for saving these former yard dogs and transforming them into beloved and cherished indoor family members.

Hank the Beer Dog
Although Hank's story is a bit funny as we always called him the "Beer Dog", it reminds us what happens when the world discards dogs and the challenges they face on the streets. Dogma volunteers found hank at a gas station rummaging and begging for food and drinking out of beer cans in the parking lot! Hank really needed a rescue and thank goodness Dogma was around! Hank now has a faaabulous life of park play and naps, as you can see in the picture! We are so glad this cutie was finally able to get some good food in his belly, relax a little and find a family to give lots of loves and kisses. Congrats Hank!!! |

Abbey, now Maggie
Abbey, the pekingese mix, now Maggie was scooped up after being dumped in a parking lot. This is what Abbey's new mom Michelle had to say about her: . Maggie is pictured with her doggie and kitty siblings in her new home. She will go back and forth between Maine and Florida! Maggie is lucky to have found her new life with Michelle. |

Hannah-Bear
Talk about a rough start to life - Hannah was rescued after an urgent call from a friend about 2 dogs chained up, skinny, no shelter and about to be "shot and buried" by the owner. You could immediately tell that Hannah was so thankful to have been rescued and she was finally able to be the happy-go-lucky puppy she was meant to be! After months of training and rehab with her foster mom, Hannah caught the eye of a terrific woman that immediately fell in love with Hannah's sweet disposition. It was full blast from there as Hannah wow'ed the rest of the family and her new fur-sister Lucy and immediately felt right at home! Hannah now enjoys her days cuddling with the Golterman girls, playing with Lucy and enjoying pool-side play with the entire family! We are SO very thankful for Hannah's rescue and that the Golterman's fell in love with her the way Dogma did. She is a very special gal and deserved nothing but the best and she got it! Happy Tails Hannah!!! |

Shelby FKA GiGi
This sweet little bundle of joy was found as a stray wandering the streets absolutely terrified, quite skinny and not so keen on humans. But look at her now! Shelby, fka GiGi, found Dogma and we gave her just enough to blossom into a wonderful little pup that the Alexandrou family fell madly in love with! Shelby fit in perfectly with this laid back family and even enjoys the company of her kitty-siblings now! We are SO thankful to the Alexandrou's for giving Shelby a chance and letting her prove how very special she is. She now enjoys her days basking in her doggie bed, romping the yard and even enjoying beach days! Happy Tails Shelby! |

Dash FKA Jeff
This happy little boy captured Dogma's heart with his big smile and gleaming personality. Thankfully he captured a wonderful family's heart too! Dash, fka Jeff, is now enjoying his days with this wonderful family and his new fur-sibling Cooper, who the family had adopted just 48 hours before adopting Dash! They had to get Cooper a friend and we are SO glad they did! The family knew they had to rescue a dog, but they didn't know the dogs would rescue them. Here's a clip from Heather's follow up email to Dogma: "I can't tell you how much these dogs have enriched our lives in just a few shorts days. THANK YOU."
Happy Tails Dash! |

Andy, Now Gizmo
Andy, now Gizmo- a 3 year old Shihtzu is living the good life. Andy, now Gizmo is living half the year in Hudson and half the year in Pennsylvania. His parents are retired so he is never alone. He also has Willow, his Irish WolfHound Sister. His new family reports him and Willow get along fabulously despite their size difference! This is what Gizmo's new family reported, GIZMO NOW LOOKS FOR ATTENTION AND HE GETS A LOT OF IT. HE ALSO LICKS YOU. I DO BELIEVE HE LOVES US (LOL). HE AND WILLOW PLAY ALL THE TIME. WILLOW EVEN GETS DOWN ON ALL 4'S SO SHE IS MORE ON GIZMO'S LEVEL. IT IS FUNNY TO SEE WILLOW LAYING ON THE FLOOR WITH GIZMO IN THE MIDDLE OF WILLOW'S HUGE BED. HE IS OVER HIS EAR INFECTION AND HIS SKIN PROBLEMS. WE JUST HAD HIM FOR HIS RECHECK AT THE VET AND HE IS PERFECT. WE ALL JUST ADORE THIS LITTLE GUY. Thanks Joan & John for loving this little guy!!! |

Murphy
Oh Murphy!!!! Murphy - you found a home that all of us Dogma volunteers would in fact ALSO love to be adopted into!!! Murphy was a very special pup to us as he was originally adopted out last year to a family that despite his best qualities, for some reason couldn't quite mesh well. Murphy thankfully came back to Dogma just in time to brighten his spirit and give him some new friends. His Dogma friends sure do miss him but now he has a furever best friend with a wonderful family that is letting Murphy lap in luxury, literally! Congrats and Happy Tails Murphy! We'll miss your smiling face! |

Belle's Got a Bright Future
Belle was found covered in maggots, severely dehydrated, full of worms and on her death bed. A nice woman scooped her up to safety and contacted Dogma to help her get the vet care needed. Here are a few words from Belle in her new home. "They tell me all the time that they love me so so much and are so happy to have found me and that they can’t imagine life without me. That makes me super happy and I feel the same way!" Here's a picture of me on my favorite pillow!! |

Belvedere
This little guy came to us with so much overgrown fur we couldn't tell what he truly looked like. He quickly found his forever home and a new hair cut. And look at how cute that face is!!!! Belvedere is living it up with his new dog brother, Butler, and his new mom, Nancey. Happy Ending. |
